Layout
The Layout tab defines the output format of the video and how content is framed. It controls three decisions: aspect ratio, face tracking, and the layouts you allow.
Aspect ratio
Auto
Best when you want VDClip to pick the format that fits the content.
9:16 Portrait
Vertical format for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok.
16:9 Landscape
Horizontal format for YouTube, traditional players, and presentations.
1:1 Square
Square format for feeds and posts where vertical space is limited.
Face tracking
Face tracking keeps the speaker’s face more centered in the frame. It is only available in the Auto and 9:16 aspect ratios. When you pick 16:9 or 1:1, the editor disables face tracking and only keeps a simple layout.
When face tracking is on, the editor lets you select multiple layouts. The Fill layout is always included as a baseline. When face tracking is off, the selection becomes a single choice limited to Fit or Fill.

Important rules
- With face tracking on, you can select multiple layouts.
- With face tracking off, only Fit or Fill are available.
- When switching to 16:9 or 1:1, face tracking is turned off automatically.
- When you turn face tracking back on, Fill is kept as the required layout.
Tips
When you process videos from different sources, Auto reduces rework.
It is the most direct choice for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts.
Fit or Fill are enough when you want predictable framing with no alternation.
